Printed Pitch Bible

We printed our pitch bible at Ink Digital. We are happy with how the colours printed and although there were some close calls in terms of text nearly being cut out by the binding we think everything is very legible. It was a shame that spiral binding is so chunky as it did cut a little bit more out of one of the episode images than we were expecting but luckily it was only a minor character that was effected, not the main action.

Finished Pitch Bible

For the style of our pitch bible we combined whimsical, fluid, painterly environments with bold characters. We used black inked outlines to help the characters stand out from the backgrounds and we assigned each character a colour/monochromatic palette to help express their personality and differentiate them from each other.

Salman Week 6-7

This week Salman focused on producing two final world images for the pitch bible. At the last minute we decided to only use one image as we thought it was stronger (composition, colour, and style wise) and also it was awkward trying to fit the two very different images on a double page spread together

Georgia Week 6-7

This week I continued colouring in the final inked images for the pitch bible.

I cleaned up the scan of Constance

I colour picked a palette for Kaka from an image of a real Kaka

I tried a few different colour combinations/placements on Kaka before I found a concept that I was happy with and I felt represented both the style of our pitch bible and the colouration of a real Kaka.

I coloured the characters on the cover and either Martin or Zac are going to colour the background.

Episode 1

After colouring episode one I put a red gradient box over the top and looked at different blending options to make the image more moody. Even though I do like the first image we decided as a team to stick with our bold coloured original.

I used the colour tool on Illustrator to help me choose monochromatic, analogous and complementary colours.

Looking at which of the colours Illustrator picked out suited the rest of the image.

Episode 2

Episode 3

Fitting everything onto the episode page:

Testing panels behind the characters:

We decided on plain, single coloured panels that use a detail colour from the character and help them pop off the page.

Developed Layout

Zac sent me the cover image in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. When I opened it before class to put it into the pitch bible I decided to quickly make some changes that would make it look a bit more refined, such as: altering/re-drawing the text, erasing some of the light fall on Kizzy's hair to give it some depth, adding more of a glow to the horseshoe and also the clouds so that they meet less awkwardly with the ground, changing the colour of the book to match the book in the episode page, adding another tentacle to balance the image, and adding in periods/fullstops to the tagline.

Zac & Martin Week 6-7

Zac sketched out the episode images using Salman's interim episode concepts as a guide, and Martin inked them. Tanya told us that we could cut the four episodes the writer had provided us with down to two or three so that we produce quality over quantity.

Zac sketched and inked Constance (our writer) using a reference picture that she provided him with

After Georgia coloured in the characters on the cover Martin started colouring the environment.

Zac took over from Martin and finished off the environment on the cover.
